Butterfly Stories is a prime example. Over the past ten years, she has left her mark on Heraklion through innovative campaigns and dynamic storytelling, as well as food styling services and podcasts that combine creativity with strategy, leading to tangible results.

At the company’s headquarters, we met with the owner, Ms. Elizabeth Kouta, who spoke to patris.gr about her early career, the challenges she faced, and how a woman can excel in a demanding and competitive industry like advertising.

The Vision and Mission of Butterfly Stories

“I wanted to do something different”, says Ms. Kouta. In a local market where there was a gap in the field of integrated communications, she decided to start her own company. “Ten years ago, I started out with the goal of offering businesses integrated services all under one roof”.

Her vision wasn't limited to simple advertising. Instead, she sought to create a company that combines strategy, social media, and creative content, thereby making a substantial contribution to the growth of its partner businesses.

Women's Entrepreneurship in the Spotlight

Elisabeth Kouta’s career highlights the power of women’s entrepreneurship in an industry that demands resilience, flexibility, and continuous growth. As a female entrepreneur, she has managed not only to establish herself but also to stand out, proving that creativity and leadership are not about gender, but about vision and perseverance.

She emphasizes the importance of self-belief and persistent effort, which are key pillars for any woman who wants to excel in the business world.

Social Action and Service

Social responsibility is an important part of the company's journey.

“We’ve launched initiatives that touch us personally,” she notes. Butterfly Stories contributes to the work being done for the “House of Angels” for children, as well as supporting the EPIDRASIS first-aid team and the Panagia Gorgoepikoos nursing home. “We want our work to leave a positive mark on society,” she emphasizes.

Challenges and Faith

The journey wasn't always easy. “During a difficult time in my life, when I had to undergo surgery, I felt the support of Our Lady of Gorgopeikoos. She helped me keep going and not give up.”, λέει η κα Κούτα.

This experience strengthened her faith and her sense of responsibility toward others. “It showed me that support and faith can make all the difference when facing any challenge.”, προσθέτει.

Awards and Highlights Over the Past Decade

Over the course of its ten-year history, the company has achieved significant successes. From its early partnerships to its accolades, Elisabeth Kouta’s recognition as a female entrepreneur stands out, as does her invitation from Harokopio University to speak at a student graduation ceremony—a particularly symbolic event, as it is the university from which she graduated.

In addition, a few months ago, the company was named one of the top 20 advertising agencies led by people under 40, a significant distinction that reinforces her standing both as a professional and as a woman in the business world.

The New Logo and Growth

Butterfly Stories’ growth was the result of patience and perseverance. “In the beginning, everything is a series of steps,” says Ms. Kouta. To mark its tenth anniversary, the company unveiled its new logo.

“It symbolizes that we stand firmly on the ground, but we also have our wings spread wide. We’re ready to fly,” he explains, linking the company’s image to the growth of its customers.

How to Balance Motherhood and Entrepreneurship

Striking a balance between personal life and career is yet another challenge. “My daughter changed my life,” she says. Motherhood and entrepreneurship coexist on a daily basis, bringing both difficulties and important lessons.

“I don’t always manage to do both perfectly, but every day is a new opportunity,” she notes, highlighting a more human and realistic side of success.

Perseverance, vision, and dreams for the future

Entrepreneurship requires resilience and strategy. “You need a strong stomach to survive in any industry. In the early years, we invested in the company and in our dreams. The team continues to invest in creativity and expertise. The rest comes with time,” he concludes.

Butterfly Stories continues to spread its wings, guided by creativity, growth, and innovation.
